Project Genesis

"Origin"

INT. SMITE HQ TRAINING ROOM

Evelyn a mid 20s mocha skinned female stands before three ninjas in an all white room looking ready for a fight. She skillfully disposes of them and turns to face Cigna an Asian woman in her mid 20s.

CIGNA

That took longer than usual.

EVELYN

I wanted to really show off my skills for the big bosses Cigna.

Evelyn nods her head to a balcony behind Cigna where a bunch of shadowy figures are standing and watching down below.

CIGNA

Well then today is going to be a big day for you Evelyn. It took a lot of endorsements from me and I guess a little hard work from you but you've been chosen to lead Smite's newest project "Genesis".

EVELYN

So goodbye field work and hello to a desk job for 9 months?

CIGNA

You're going to love motherhood.

INT. SMITE INFIRMARY

A pregnant Evelyn sits on a table surrounded by a doctor, nurse, and Cigna as she's in labor. They rush into position as the baby comes and Evelyn howls in pain.

EVELYN

Ah!!! Okay forget the promotion this isn't worth it!

CIGNA

You're good just think of the new perks. Besides it's kind of hard to go back now.

Doctor

She's right Evelyn it's time for the baby to come.

Evelyn

Oh finally!

Cigna

Keep your on the prize.

Doctor

Okay Evelyn big push.

Evelyn

AH!!!

Evelyn pushes out a baby boy that begins crying as the doctors wrap it up and hand it to Evelyn who awkwardly cradles him.

EVELYN

Oh finally!

DOCTOR

Congratulations you have a healthy baby boy.

CIGNA

If everything really went according to plan he'll be extremely healthy.

EVELYN looks down at the baby in her hands as it looks up at her. Evelyn smiles down at the baby as it opens its eyes to look at her.

EVELYN

Oh yeah something tells me this guy is going to be a regular alpha male.

CIGNA

So are you going to call him PG-1 like the guys in the lab want to?

Evelyn

Oh I'm definitely not calling him that with a straight face.

Evelyn and Cigna seem to be in deep though over a name.

EVELYN

He needs something strong.

CIGNA

Something that says he's not to be messed with.

EVELYN

Hmmm I got it! I'll call him Kain.

INT. Smite HQ Training Room

A nine year old Kain lifts a two hundred pound barbell over his head. Several scientists take notes.

EXT. Smite Grounds Woods

A nine year old Kain is running through the woods at a speed above that of a normal human.

INT. Smite Training Room

A nine year old Kain is surrounded by several ninjas. He quickly dispatches them using hand to hand combat mixing boxing and grappling.

INT. Smite HQ

A nine year old Kain sits at a desk while Evelyn observes him. She pulls out a timer and starts it. Kain then begins marking answers on a test and quickly finishes as Evelyn stops the timer and seems pleased with the time.

 

 

INT. Smite HQ Training Room

A teenage Kain stands in front of a bunch of mirrors all showing his reflection from different angles in his combat gear.

EVELYN (VO)

For seventeen years Evelyn trained Kain to harness his gifts. Enhanced strength, speed, agility, senses, all that comic book stuff, she also trained him to be an expert martial artists and Processer. Kain was literally made to be the ultimate weapon.

INT. SMITE VAN

Teenage Kain is sitting in a Van looking bored from hearing the story being told by Evelyn who is sitting across from him.

KAIN

This is the worst motivational speech of all time.

EVELYN

I'm telling you this to remind you of what you represent every time you go out in the field. You represent millions of dollars spent by Smite, you represent years of training, you represent the future, and most importantly you represent me.

KAIN

Of course that's the most important thing. You never let me forget. Anyway understood now what's the mission?

EXT. CITY STREETS - NIGHT

A roaring mutant creature stands in the middle of the street as several civilians run away screaming. Several soldiers run into the scene surrounding the creatures with their weapons aimed on it.

SOLDIER Leader

This is the second one in three days. Okay open fire!

The soldiers fire on the creature with their weapons as the shots rain down on it. The creature then grabs a nearby car and tosses it at the soldiers. They dodge as the car explodes.

SOLDIER

Stay on it! We're not losing this part of the city or any more people to these abominations!

The soldiers try their weapons again but they do little damage against the creature. The mutant manages to take out a few soldiers.

SOLDIER

We have to hold it off till the big gun arrives!

INT. SURVILLIANCE VAN

Evelyn sits at a control panel watching a monitor. She then turns around and adjusts her communication headset. Kain is behind her finishing putting on his combat gear.

EVELYN

I remember a year ago this was the place to be on a Saturday. Now it's becoming rubble. Okay Kain we've reached the drop-off point. Get out there and remedy the situation.

Kain hops out of the van and into the battlefield. The soldiers in the area stop firing to let Kain do his thing. Kain whistles to get the mutants attention.

 

EVELYN (in comm. device)

Okay Kain play this smart. Remember what happened with the last mutant? Keep moving and make it react to you not the other way around.

KAIN

Evelyn I got it!

Kain and the mutant fight in the city streets destroying property in the way. Kain hits the creature in weak points of the face but takes his fair share of damage too. Kain then uses a grenade to finish the mutant off. The mutant is destroyed but Kain is hurt in the blast and knocked out. Evelyn and makes sure several soldiers gather Kain and carry him back to the truck.

INT. Smite BASE - Infirmary

Both CIGNA and EVELYN are staring through a window into the room where Kain is being treated for his injuries.

CIGNA

So apparently showing off runs in the family. Don't worry your baby boy will be up and running in no time.

EVELYN

All teenagers think they're invincible. He just happens to almost be.

CIGNA

At least this time there were some remains left over from the mutant for the lab to study and they found something interesting.

EVELYN

And that is?

CIGNA

That the mutant's genetic coding was almost similar to the one used to make Project Genesis.

EVELYN

Like a knock off?

CIGNA

Like someone who would know about Project Genesis is trying to recreate it but can't quite figure out the complete cocktail.

EVELYN

Great, so are we both assuming that Professor Lucifer survived his escape?

CIGNA

We are. And if I recall he was not happy with Smite's plans to use the project to create super soldiers. He felt it was creating a new species just to be slaves.

EVELYN

Yeah well if he did make these monstrosities I'd hate to see what it would be like with more running around without a leash.

INT. SMITE HALLWAY

Evelyn and Cigna walk down a long hallway passing by various soldiers and scientists before stopping in front of a laboratory.

EVELYN

So if this is the case then I think we

should consider birthing PG-2.

CIGNA

           I don't think that would be wise. It still hasn't

           finished its programming phase.

EVELYN

I'll deal with that Cigna. I handled myself well with the practice kid Kain. I know what to do and not to do now. Besides if we're going to find out if this really is Lucifer and stop him from unleashing more mutants then Kain is going to need help. Not some faceless soldiers whose bullets might as well be tickling these things but real help. Another super soldier that can handle themselves just like him. Plus this time I don't have to ruin my body for it and well I always wanted a girl.

Cigna and Evelyn laugh together.

INT. SMITE HQ LAB

Professor Lucifer an average looking scientist carrying a hard drive is cornered by Smite soldiers while the room they are in burns.

 

Professor Lucifer

Stay back! I won't let Smite use a break through like this for something as trivial as super soldiers.

Soldier

Drop the hard drive and put your hands above your head!

Some chemicals in test tubes catch fire causing an explosion. The explosion sends Professor Lucifer crashing through a wall.

EXT. Smite Grounds - Night

Professor Lucifer climbs out of the rubble but his skin is burned, red, and scaly now. He grabs a now damaged hard drive and runs off into the night.

INT. PROFESSOR LUCIFER'S HIDEOUT - MAIN CHAMBER

Damien a teenage male with pale greenish looking skin and Satana a teenage girl with red scaly skin get out of a truck and Satana opens the back. The truck is full of supplies and several mutant creatures begin to unload the truck.

LUCIFER

          Well done you two. Well done indeed.

Professor Lucifer sits on a throne as Damien and Satana join him.

LUCIFER

You performed your task well. The creature was a perfect decoy while you robbed Chase Labs. Soon I can get back to work. Ever since I stole the Genesis code from Smite I have been trying to recreate it to make a new species. Unfortunately I am missing something, in my escape from Smite I did not manage to get the full genetic code to make my creations perfect.

Damien and Satana look at each other while Prof. Lucifer talks to himself. Damien then clears his throat to grab Lucifer's attention.

DAMIEN

           Hate to interrupt your monologue father but you're

           talking about creating the perfect beings.

SATANA

           Well here we are. Mission accomplished time to move

           on.

Lucifer stands from his throne and walks past Damien and Satana to a control panel.

LUCIFER

While it's true you two are the best beings I've created using the Genesis formula you are still incomplete. However once I figure out the code you will be. Then you will stand tall as you take your place as the future. A new species to take over this planet from humans and lead it in my image.

Prof. Lucifer presses a few buttons on the control panel and several tubes start boiling liquid.

LUCIFER

I used my own personal superior DNA to create you but you are still deformed. Damien and Satana seem hurt by his remarks.

SATANA

Well if your DNA is so superior then why do we look the way we do? Maybe we're perfect enough to be the new dominant species on this planet. Lucifer quickly walks up in front of Satana smiles down on her.

LUCIFER

The fact you share my DNA is why you're close to perfection. In order to get the rest of the code we will need a sample. And luckily we know the perfect specimen to study. We need Kain.

INT. SMITE HQ - INFIRMARY

A lightly bandaged Kain is sitting up on a hospital bed as a doctor is checking him out. Kain appears rather annoyed by all the poking and prodding from the very amazed doctor.

DOCTOR

Marvelous simply marvelous. The injuries you sustained would have anyone else laid in bed for weeks. By my count you should be fine in a matter of days. You truly are a scientific miracle.

KAIN

I've heard. Several times.

INT. SMITE HQ - TRAINING ROOM

Nine year old Kain lifts a two hundred pound barbell over his head. Several people from the shadows up in a balcony. Evelyn then walks up to Kain signaling for him to do more.

EXT. SMITE GROUNDS WOODS

A nine year old Kain runs through the woods and reaches Evelyn who clocks his time with a stop watch. Kain stands awaiting orders and Evelyn signals him to run again.

INT. SMITE TRAINING ROOM

A scientist approaches nine year old Kain who's sitting at a desk. He checks Kain's answers and then several other scientists approach Kain and appear to be excitedly questioning him.

INT. SMITE HQ

Kain stands in front of several mirrors each showing a different angle of him in his combat gear. Kain appears upset by something he sees. He turns around to see Evelyn and a bunch of scientists all ignoring him and talking amongst themselves.

INT. SMITE HQ - INFIRMARY

EVELYN enters the infirmary and sees Kain getting dressed. Evelyn tries to compose herself before approaching him and puts on her usual nonchalant appearance to him.

EVELYN

           You can cut him you can blow him up but Kain just

           keeps on going and going.

Kain puts on a shirt and gets off the bed.

KAIN

           Glad to know you were worried about me.

Evelyn goes to put her hand on Kain's shoulder but instead stops and rubs the back of her neck.

KAIN

So a little R & R now?

EVELYN

Actually I need to talk to you in the lab.

INT. SMITE BASE - LAB

Evelyn and Kain stand in the lab surrounded by computers and scientists all seemingly busy. One of the scientist stands beside EVELYN as a tank labeled PG-2 stands before them.

EVELYN

           Kain it's time for you to meet your new sister.

Kain just stares at her for a few seconds before getting a shocked look on his face.

KAIN

My what?

The scientist begins typing on a computer as the tank in front of them begins to hiss.

EVELYN

Well Kain you have exceeded all expectations we've had for you. Still waiting on you to start moving things with your mind. However you're just one soldier. Project Genesis was always intended to breed a new type of soldier and well it's time to expand to an army.

KAIN

           So how long has this been going on?

EVELYN

I had Smite's scientists take some of my DNA a year ago and they found a way to accelerate the creation process without needing a human host. So Kain I want you to meet PG-2 AKA Abigail.

The tank opens up as steam escapes from it. Kain looks on interested as Abigail young mocha skinned teen girl is shown sleeping inside the tank. Abigail then wakes up, stretches, and smiles.

INT. SMITE BASE - TRAINING ROOM

Abigail is performing yoga stretches as Kain, Evelyn, and Cigna stand on the other side of the gym away from her.

CIGNA

           Evelyn I'm going to warn you one last time. PG-2 was

           not finished being programmed. There's no telling

           how she'll function.

EVELYN

"Abigail" will be fine. Besides she'll have training and Kain's protection.

KAIN

           Sorry but did anyone stop to think how I'd feel about

           this?

Evelyn and Cigna look at each before turning their attention back to Kain.

EVELYN

Not really. Besides you should be happy. With mutants running the streets you'll need all the help you can get. Especially if who we think is behind this really is something tells me it's just getting started.

CIGNA

His name is Professor Lucifer and he's a disgruntled ex employee. Of course we haven't proven this yet.

EVELYN

  But regardless of that you could use the help. So the next time you take on some mutants Abigail is going with you and you will look out for her. She's your sister so don't let anything bad happen to her.

KAIN

Hmm.

EVELYN

She has a complete memory of a childhood till now. She may not know advanced techniques when it comes to training but we can show her that. She thinks she's been around for 15 years and it's best if you play along and let her think that.

Abigail runs up to them and grabs Kain by the arm and drags him away.

ABIGAIL

Come on spar with me.

Kain and Abigail get to the sparring mat and take their stances.

ABIGAIL

Sorry for being out of action this morning. The mission from before that must have really done a number on me.

Abigail swings a spinning back fist at Kain but he blocks it.

KAIN

No problem I handled it.

Kain grabs her arm and twists it behind her back into a submission hold.

KAIN

Besides you probably would have just gotten in the way.

Abigail bends down and uses her free arm to grab Kain's leg and pulls it from under him causing him to fall to the ground. Abigail then back flips and attempts to stomp on Kain in her landing but he gets his legs up and kicks her sending flying.

EVELYN

Aww look at them getting along already.

CIGNA

Yeah really warms your heart.

Evelyn and Cigna then leave the training room.

EXT. CITY POWER PLANT - NIGHT

Satana and Damien lead several mutant creatures into the city's Power plant. The creatures take out the security that try to stop them as Damien and Satana easily walk in.

DAMIEN

Haven't they seen the news? You would think they would know they're no match for us.

Satana turns toward some mutants and points down a hall.

SATANA

You two down that way take care of any guards that come your way.

Satana then points to other mutants and then directs them toward the opposite hallway.

SATANA

You down that way and keep whoever comes your way busy.

The mutants all go their appointed ways. Damien and Satana then begin heading down a different hallway.

DAMIEN

Remember the plan is to appear to be trying to route the power. We need PG-1 to show up so we can take him to father.

SATANA

Can you sound excited? Or are you not sold on father's plan?

DAMIEN

Doesn't matter I think we're perfect enough. He seems determined to replace us with the genetic coding in PG-1.

INT. SMITE BASE - MESSHALL

Kain and Abigail are in a mess hall sitting at a table. Abigail is eating her food but Kain is just staring at her. Eventually she notices his eyes on her.

ABIGAIL

      Why are you staring at me?

KAIN

             I can't be interested in my own sister?

ABIGAIL

You can but can I be interested in why?

KAIN

Sure have you ever noticed something weird about everyone else?

Abigail turns from her spot at the table to look around. She notices several people around the mess hall mostly scientists and soldiers all either talking or eating.

ABIGAIL

Besides everyone here seems to only fit into the category of soldier or scientist?

KAIN

No, well yeah that's interesting but I mean notice anything else?

ABIGAIL

I don't see anything really weird.

KAIN

I didn't ask if you saw anything weird I asked if you noticed anything about the others. Like they smell different or something inside is telling you they are different.

ABIGAIL

Or that you and I are the same? Like an instinct.

KAIN

Exactly. I've been feeling that way for years. I've always wanted to tell someone but didn't think they would understand.

ABIGAIL

I don't remember feeling that way until now. Why haven't you told me about it before?

Suddenly an alarm goes off.

KAIN

We'll talk later. That sound is never good.

INT. SMITE Helicopter

Kain and Abigail are finishing putting on their combat gear while Evelyn reads off from a monitor.

EVELYN

            Okay Kain and Abigail comm. links on. Looks

            like we got more mutant company. This time it's at

            the city power plant. You guys are going in with a

            group of Smite agents. I'll monitor out here.

            Remember hit hard and fast and watch each other's

            back.

Abigail puts an arm around Kain's shoulder.

ABIGAIL

Don't worry we've done this before.

Kain uses a finger to push off Abigail's arm.

KAIN

Yeah... we have.

Abigail raises an eyebrow to Kain like she's wondering why he's acting so strange.

ABIGAIL

Anyway Kain I was thinking after we do this maybe you would help me redecorate my quarters.

Kain gives her a nervous smile and a thumbs up and then turns away from her leaving her feeling confused on why he's acting like that.         

INT. POWER PLANT - MAIN GENERATOR ROOM

Damien and Satana are working on redirecting more power to Lucifer's hideout. Damien appears to be working harder than Satana.

DAMIEN

We have to make sure we do this properly. Father

needs to see that despite appearances we are

perfect. We are the ones that will lead the world as the new dominant species no one else.

SATANA

             Yeah ok. Although I don't see the point of

             helping him at all. He said we were defective and

             made it clear he wants to replace us. Why bother

             helping him get rid of us?

Damien stops working but Satana doesn't as Damien focuses his attention on Satana. Suddenly an explosion is heard in another part of the power plant.

Satana

 Sounds like trouble... and finished! Ha!

DAMIEN

What?!

INT. CITY POWER PLANT - HALLWAYS

Several Smite agents battle with mutant creatures as gunfire can be heard everywhere. Kain and Abigail lead the charge taking on mutants. Abigail uses her hand to hand skills to knock out a mutant.

EVELYN (OVER ABIGAIL COMM. DEVICE)

             There seems to be something going on in the main

             generator room. Take the main hall and it's the

             third hall on your right.

Kain locks hands with a mutant as they grapple for position. They slam each other around against the walls and finally Kain lifts the mutant over his head and tosses him into wall.

ABIGAIL

             Evelyn says there's something going on in the main

             generator room. We have to hurry.

Kain cracks his knuckles and appears to be confused by what Abigail said. Abigail then takes off running and Kain follows her.

KAIN

Really? Why didn't she update me?

INT. CITY POWER PLANT - MAIN GENERATOR ROOM

Abigail and Kain break into the room catching Damien and Satana in the act. The four stare each other down waiting for someone to make a move.

KAIN

I have to say I did not see this coming. You almost look human but.

Kain takes a whiff of the air.

KAIN

You don't smell human.

SATANA

Well you're not so bad either handsome.

DAMIEN

Focus Satana! There's two of them now and.

Damien sniffs the air.

DAMIEN

They smell almost like us.

SATANA

Really Damien?

ABIGAIL

           Okay this got awkward fast.

DAMIEN

Well we only wanted PG-1 to eliminate him but seems there are more like us than we thought.

KAIN

That seems to be the theme of the day. And the name is Kain.

ABIGAIL

And I'm Abigail.

SATANA

          I just thought of something. If we captured these two

          and brought them to father...

DAMIEN

Then he can study them and we'd have less competition for the time being.

The four split up with Kain and Damien fighting while Abigail and Satana also fight. Kain and Damien lock hands fighting for control but Damien's metal skin gives him the advantage.

DAMIEN

          Wow you're supposed to be perfection? I'm not

          seeing it.

KAIN

Well look harder!

Kain gets his legs up and drop kicks Damien into a control panel as sparks fly. Damien fights back with some punches to Kain. Some miss but he manages to connect 2 sending Kain flying. Satana kicks Abigail into a wall then misses a slash with her claws. Abigail knees Satana in the stomach and grabs her by the hair.

ABIGAIL

Spill it what were you two doing here?

Satana spits in Abigail's face causing her to release her to wipe the spit. Satana then thrust kicks Abigail across the room next to Kain.

EVELYN (OVER COMM. DEVICE)

Abigail what's going on in there?

ABIGAIL

           We met some new friends. We're just getting

           to know each other.

Damien straddles Kain and begins punching him in the face. Kain's blood begins to stain Damien's fists and sleeves. Damien stops punching Kain to gloat.

DAMIEN

          If you're supposed to be human perfection I'm not                seeing.

KAIN

I'm perfect but far from human.

Kain then tosses Damien off of him before getting up off the floor. He stands over Damien.

KAIN

And so are you two.

Satanna and Abigail stop fighting briefly.

DAMIEN

And that means what exactly?

KAIN

I don't know.

ABIGAIL

We shouldn't be fighting each other?

DAMIEN

Oh you're right what were we thinking? Clearly the four of us should be a big happy family. Oh wait we're on opposite sides.

The fight continues with Satanna getting the upper hand on Abigail standing over her. Kain sees this and gets enraged and abandons his fight with Damien to help Abigail with Satanna throwing her across the room. Kain then helps Abigail off the floor.

KAIN

            Okay I'm done with this! Abigail we have to fight

            together instead of just in the same room.

ABIGAIL

Got it!

Kain and Abigail stand together and go after Damien first. They both land a roundhouse kick to Damien knocking him down. They follow up with a double punch to Satana.

KAIN

Give me your hand.

Kain grabs Abigail's hand and whips her around to strike Satana into a control panel. Sparks fly and the machine starts to spark.

ABIGAIL

Your turn!

Abigail helps Kain get momentum to shoulder thrust Damien into a generator who reverses it to send them into the generator. The generator starts to malfunction as sparks fly and the generators all start to go haywire as fires break out.

ABIGAIL

Oops.

KAIN

Scramble!

Kain and Abigail make a break for it running from the room as quick as possible. Damien helps Satanna out of the room as explosions go off.

INT. Smite BASE - BRIEFING ROOM

Cigna, Evelyn, Kain, and Abigail all are in the briefing room. Monitors in the back show the action from before. Kain and Abigail are sitting at the table while Evelyn and Cigna stare them down.

CIGNA

            Amazing simply amazing. You guys knocked the city's

            power out for hours and you have what to show for

            it?

KAIN

            The place was crawling with those mutants it all got pretty hectic.

ABIGAIL

            But umm there was also.

Kain looks at Abigail with a predatory stare that causes her to stop talking and back down.

KAIN

            There was also unforeseen factors with the Smite                  agents in the way.

Cigna and Evelyn both look at each other. Cigna then walks off.

EVELYN

Rest up.

Evelyn then leaves the room. Kain just stares down at the table while Abigail looks at him.

ABIGAIL

Weird day huh?

KAIN

You have no idea.

ABIGAIL

             Earlier I got the feeling something was wrong. Like

             you were upset with me or something.

KAIN

No I'm not upset with you.

Kain(VO)

I don't even know you.

Kain gets up from the table and walks out the room while Abigail follows.

KAIN

Look we got some R&R. Still want help redecorating your quarters?.

ABIGAIL.

Sure. But uh back there why didn't you want to tell Evelyn and Cigna about Damien and Satana?

KAIN

You notice that Smite doesn't take any prisoners right? Well if those two are like us I don't want there to be 2 fewer of us walking around.

ABIGAIL

Yeah us just beating the brake pads off each other was much better.

KAIN

Okay fine it wasn't good either. It felt wrong. But hopefully we'll see them again and be able to change all that.

INT. PROF. LUCIFER HIDEOUT

Damien and Satana are both nursing wounds before Lucifer who doesn't seem pleased that they failed.

LUCIFER

             You had a simple task and you failed.

Damien looks at Kain's blood spots on his sleeve before looking back at Lucifer.

DAMIEN

You're right we have nothing to show. Sorry father.

LUCIFER

However we now know of not one but two subjects for me to study. Rest up you'll need it for when the time comes.

INT. SMITE BASE - LAB

Cigna is with several Smite scientists. There are several tanks around labeled PG with different numbers ranging from 3 to 9. Cigna takes out her phone.

CIGNA

             Yes it's seems Project Genesis is a success so far.

The accelerated incubation period is operational. Soon Smite

             will have an army of perfect soldiers to serve us.
